GEORGE TOWN: Online portal myStarjob.com complements the Government’s effort to bring back Malaysian talents now working overseas, says Talent Corporation Malaysia Bhd chief executive officer Johan Mahmood Merican.
“Its unique aspect links the profile of potential candidates and recruiting companies. As it is an online gateway, Malaysians abroad can consider the opportunities available and apply there and then.
“Through this, myStarjob.com is in line with the Government’s efforts to bring back Malaysian talents based in foreign countries,” he said in his talk during the “Closing The Talent Gap: The New Rules of Engagement” seminar for human resource practitioners organised by Star Publications (M) Berhad.
MyStarJob Network Sdn Bhd, a wholly owned subsidiary of Star Publications (Malaysia) Berhad developed myStarjob.com.
The two other speakers at the talk were Leaderonomics Sdn Bhd chief executive officer Roshan Thiran and Malaysian American Electronics Industry (MAEI) chairman Datuk Wong Siew Hai.
Also present were Star Publications Executive Director Tan Sri Kamal Hashim, Star Publications Digital Business Chief Operating Officer Wong Siah Ping and Star Publications Senior Regional Manager (Operations) David Yeoh.
Kamal said the seminar was aimed at getting the speakers to share their insight and experiences related to the enhancement of human resources and talent development.
In her speech, Siah Ping said the seminar provided an occasion for human resource practitioners in the northern region to be introduced to the various features of myStarjob.com.
“Our portal leverages on The Star media group’s integrated media platform to provide cross media recruitment services, including double exposure for job listings in The Star as well as The Star Online.
“There’s also Visume (video resume, pre-screening questions and live chat interviews), and a career guide that appears in print and online,” she said.
Meanwhile, Siew Hai said myStarjob.com did not only make it easier for companies to recruit talent but also provided sound advice for workers to improve themselves to land well paying jobs.
“It covers a broad spectrum of jobs. The weekly career guide is a valuable resource for people seeking professional advice and opportunities and also enables organisations to use it to attract qualified staff of good reputation,” he said.
Intel Malaysia Talent Acquisition Manager Umasuten Karisnan said the portal would help the electronic manufacturing companies to employ better workers.
“The portal creates awareness of what is available in the industry. It is also more than a job portal because it helps to motivate workers to move further in their careers,” he said.
