PETALING JAYA: From today, readers of The Star Online’s Lifestyle website will be redirected to Star2.com, a new portal of The Star Media Group.
The launch of Star2.com comes as part of the 20th anniversary celebration of The Star Online as it pushes the envelope to be the leading Malaysian news and features website.
“Readership data of The Star Online shows there is a strong demand for credible lifestyle content among digital readers in Malaysia today,” said Serm Teck Choon, The Star Media Group’s head of digital products.
Lifestyle is one of the fastest growing channels of The Star Online, with more than 50% growth in monthly traffic last year, and the channel currently sees more than 500,000 unique visitors monthly.
“The branching out of Star2.com is important for The Star Media Group to leverage this readership growth,” added Serm.
As well as being the online host for content from the print version of Star2, Star2.com will feature new and original content on various subjects housed in nine channels – Entertainment, People, Style, Culture, Food, Health, Family, Living, and Travel.
Additionally, the site’s improved design is also more friendly for smartphone and tablet users.
“Lifestyle readers have the world at their fingertips. But ultimately, we all want the same thing – to keep up with the latest news and opinion around us,” said online features editor Lennard Gui.
“Star2.com has been designed to be crisp, smart and uncomplicated. “This is to attract an international audience that comes for our Malaysian and global perspective on lifestyle content.”
