Suria FM’s announcer Tyzo clinched the Most Popular Radio Announcer at the 35th Anugerah Bintang Popular Berita Harian which was held at Istana Budaya on July 21.
Tyzo, who hosts the Suria Petang segment (weekdays, 3pm-7pm), said that he was surprised when he was announced the winner at the annual event organised by the Malay daily.
“This award holds significant meaning to me in my career as a radio announcer. I am utterly grateful as this is the first time I have won the Most Popular Radio Announcer after 20 years in this industry,” Tyzo said in a press statement.
“After going through many ups and downs throughout my career, I finally get the opportunity to experience this beautiful moment at such a prestigious awards ceremony like ABPBH. I am truly humbled,” added Tyzo, who also hosts the Hello Suria programme on weekends (2pm-6pm).
Tyzo started his career in radio in 2004. He joined Suria FM in 2007 for five years after which he left for other stations before returning to the Suria family in 2016.
Tyzo said this victory was somewhat bittersweet as his late mum didn’t get the chance to witness his win as she had always been supportive and would listen to him on air all the time.
Tyzo beat Johan (Hot FM), Haiza (Kool 101), DJ Sonic (Nasional FM) and DJ Lin (Suria FM) for the award.
